North Dakota Snow, Flood Damage Could Total $166 Million
North Dakota officials are compiling numbers on the cost of the blizzards and flooding this year in the state.
Disaster officials told legislators it could add up to about $166 million. The figure includes $50 million in emergency measures, $100,000 to deal with damage to roads and other public infrastructure, $24 million to reduce future losses and $12 million in individual assistance.
The damage continues to be tallied. State Transportation Department Director Francis Ziegler said some highways are so damaged by flooding that they will have to be completely rebuilt.
