Damage Estimated at $50 Million in Ohio Plant Blast
An Ohio fire chief estimates $50 million in damage was done by a recent explosion and fire at an Ohio solvent recycling plant.
West Carrollton Fire Chief Jack Keister says federal investigators are trying to pinpoint the cause of the blast early on May 4 at the Veolia Environmental Services plant south of Dayton.
Keister has said a preliminary explanation was that fumes from a transfer of chemicals somehow ignited.
The state fire marshal’s office has ruled the explosion was accidental.
Authorities say four of the six workers on site at the time were hurt, including two with serious injuries. One of them required hospitalization because of burns.
