Michigan County Tab for June Thunderstorms Put at $30 Million
Authorities say thunderstorms that hit Michigan earlier this month caused more than $30 million in damage in one southwestern Michigan county.
The Holland Sentinel and The Grand Rapids Press report Ottawa County officials estimate the storms caused $25.9 million in damage to private property and $4.4 million in damage to public property.
Flooding last weekend in the Holland area followed heavy rain and forced Ottawa County officials to declare a local state of emergency.
Holland is about 25 miles southwest of Grand Rapids.
