More than $12M in Dickinson, N.D., Tornado Claims Paid
North Dakota insurance officials say more than 2,000 insurance claims have been filed and more than $12 million paid out to victims of a July 8 tornado in Dickinson.
State Insurance Department spokeswoman Andrea Fonkert said the department has been compiling figures on claims and payout information from agents in the area.
Todd Schweitzer is an agent with American Family Insurance in Dickinson. He said many of the claims involve damage to homes. He also reports more people interested in renter’s insurance.
Carson Steiner is a manager with BW Insurance Agency Inc., in Dickinson. He said he’s also seen quite a few home claims, along with claims for damage to cars and recreational vehicles.
