2 Missouri Women Charged With Murder-for-Insurance Money
Two 55-year-old Missouri women have been charged with conspiring to hire someone to murder the husband of one of the suspects.
The U.S. Attorney’s office in St. Louis announced that Elain Young of Novinger and Katherine Mock of Cassville face federal charges in the 2006 shooting death of Young’s husband.
The indictment says they arranged for the murder of Melvin Griesbauer so Young could collect more than $700,000 from three insurance policies that named her as beneficiary.
The indictment also accuses Young of giving Mock medication to make her appear insane so she could avoid prison.
It wasn’t clear if either woman has an attorney.
The case originated in Adair County, where the women face charges of murder and armed criminal action.
