North Dakota State Files $500K Insurance Claim for Minard Hall Collapse
North Dakota State University has filed a $500,000 insurance claim for the collapse of a portion of 100-year-old Minard Hall on campus.
A section of the north side of the four-story building gave way early on Dec. 27, apparently because nearby excavation weakened the soil around the foundation.
Campus facilities manager Bruce Frantz said the rest of the building appears to be structurally sound, but they’ll do a closer inspection to make sure.
Minard Hall is home to classrooms and offices. The university hopes to have the classrooms ready for spring semester.
