Investigation Continues into Deadly Minnesota Pub Fire
Investigators say it could be days or even weeks before they determine the cause of a bar fire that killed six people in Minneapolis, Minn.
Friends of the victims and curious strangers visited the charred remains of McMahon’s Irish Pub on April 4 where a memorial of toys and flowers grew in the parking lot. Another memorial with a U.S. flag and teddy bears began to pile up across the street.
Relatives say Andrew Gervais, his three children and bartender Ryan Richner were killed in the fire. Authorities have only identified a six victim as Gervais’ mother, Ann.
According to friends and relatives, Andrew Gervais and his children were trying to get settled, moving from place to place, but had planned to stay just one night with his sister’s boyfriend who lived above the pub.
The Star Tribune reports fire investigators still don’t know what sparked the deadly blaze early on April 2 that destroyed the building, which housed six apartments on the second floor. Officials say it was the deadliest fire in nearly 24 years.
