Ohio Deadly Tornado Had Wind Speeds up to 165 Mph
The National Weather Service now says the tornado that killed seven people in northwest Ohio last weekend had winds of up to 165 mph, was up to 300 yards wide and may have traveled 10 miles.
Weather service meteorologist Will Kubina in Cleveland said the tornado was by far the most severe of four confirmed tornadoes that hit northern Ohio on Saturday. The deadly tornado destroyed at least 50 homes and left another 50 severely damaged. A high school was left in ruins before graduation.
State officials reported that 1,000 power customers were still out in the area Monday morning.
