OSHA Proposes $118K Fine Against Nebraska Company

October 15, 2010

Federal authorities say they intend to fine an Omaha, Neb., construction company more than $118,000 for safety problems.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration says Swain Construction has committed 15 violations of federal workplace-safety rules. OSHA says Swain did not adequately train its workers to operate the company’s heavy equipment.

Swain executives did not immediately return a call Wednesday from The Associated Press.

OSHA says it began investigating in April after a company worker was injured in an accident with a skid steer loader.

The company has 15 business days to contest the citations.
