S.D. City Manager Convicted of Grand Theft
A jury has found Sturgis, S.D., City Manager David Boone guilty of grand theft by deception after a three-day trial.
KBHB radio reports that the jury deliberated nearly 3 1/2 hours Wednesday night before convicting Boone on the alternate charge. Boone was found not guilty of grand theft by fraudulent insurance act.
Boone was accused of making a false hail damage claim on a vehicle. He says the charge against him was politically motivated.
He’s to be sentenced May 27. He faces up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
