String Of Arsons Leaves 1 Dead in Indiana
Indianapolis officials say a woman was killed in a house fire that was among a string of 10 overnight fires, most of which are believed to be arson.
The city Fire Department says five of the blazes were reported before 1 a.m. on May 10, with five more by about 6 a.m. Most of the fires were clustered to houses just east and south of downtown Indianapolis.
The only injuries reported were from the fire where 63-year-old Anna Richards was killed and her adult son was hurt. Police Detective Marcus Kennedy says the fire is suspicious but that investigators didn’t know whether it is connected to the other fires.
Fire officials said at least six of the blazes were arsons and the others remained under investigation.
