Michigan Laundry Blast Caused by Open Gas Line
Warren’s fire chief says an explosion that leveled a commercial laundry earlier this month in the Detroit suburb was caused by an open 2-inch gas line inside the business.
Wilburt “Skip” McAdams tells the Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News the incident is suspicious, and Warren police executed a search warrant at the business owner’s home.
Officials are expected to release more details at a news conference later Thursday that is to follow a meeting between city police and fire officials and federal agents.
McAdams says 10 homes and three businesses near the blast site have been condemned pending repairs, and a number of other homes and businesses in the area were damaged in the May 4 explosion.
