Lawyer Targeted in Illinois Worker’s Compensation Case

July 14, 2011

Illinois’ Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission has filed a complaint against a lawyer who represented a state trooper injured in a wreck he caused that killed two sisters.

The commission contends attorney Kerry O’Sullivan exchanged emails with former Workers’ Compensation Commission arbitrator Jennifer Teague about the merits of the claim, since denied, of former state trooper Matt Mitchell.

ARDC spokesman Jim Grogan refused Tuesday to discuss O’Sullivan’s case, but told the Belleville News-Democrat “no one should have the ear of the adjudicative body without the other side being present.”

Mitchell pleaded guilty to reckless homicide and reckless driving for the 2007 crash that killed Jessica and Kelli Uhl. Authorities say Mitchell was driving 126 mph and texting when the crash occurred.

A spokeswoman says O’Sullivan is cooperating with ARDC.
