Wisconsin State Fair Will Include Midway Next Year
The Wisconsin State Fair will continue the midway amusement area next year after violence on the opening night of the fair this year marred the event.
Board chairman John Yingling said in a statement that they plan to offer the amusement ride area as part of the fair for years to come after some authorities and officials questioned whether it was wise for the midway to return.
According to a report in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, fair officials will directly manage the rides, games and food operations in the amusement area for the first time.
The fair previously contracted the midway with one vendor, who paid a flat fee to run the amusement area.
Despite the opening night violence, the fair drew 911,231 visitors, a 4 percent increase over last year.
