Indiana Woman Arrested in Murder-for-Hire Scheme
Indiana State Police say a Tell City woman tried to hire a hit man to kill a 30-year-old Owensboro, Ky., man.
Fifty-two-year-old Jane Kleaving was being held without bond in the Spencer County Jail Friday on preliminary charges of conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to commit insurance fraud.
State police say they set up a sting after receiving information in October that Kleaving was trying to hire a hit man. Kleaving allegedly gave money to an undercover detective posing as a hit man during a meeting Friday in southern Indiana but wasn’t able to pay the full amount agreed on. Police say Kleaving offered to fake a burglary at her home and pay him the insurance money.
Police didn’t identify the man Kleaving allegedly wanted killed.
