Settlement Reached in Fatal Kansas Accident
The parents of a Lawrence woman who died in a 2010 crash are proposing a $100,000 settlement with the insurance carrier for the other driver involved in the accident.
Lawrence attorney James Wisler has asked a Douglas County judge to approve the settlement between Cecilia Paez and Geico Insurance. Paez’ daughter, Mary Grace Paez, died in the Oct. 14, 2010, crash in west Lawrence. Her father, Vincent Paez, would also receive part of the settlement.
Mary Grace Paez died after a collision with a Jeep driven by 23-year-old Sean Barrett Walker of Overland Park.
The Lawrence Journal-World reports that Douglas County prosecutors are still considering whether to file criminal charges in the case.
