Settlement Reached in American Family Iowa Fire Lawsuit
A settlement has been reached in a lawsuit against a developer and his wife accused of concealing information about a fire that destroyed their Urbandale home.
The Des Moines Register reports that the lawsuit against John Kline and his wife, Michelle, was dismissed on Wednesday.
American Family Mutual Insurance Co. had sued them in July 2010, alleging they concealed information about the nature and circumstances of the Feb. 9, 2009, fire. The fire remains under investigation.
Details of the settlement are not included in the order dismissing the case. Lawyers for both sides have not returned calls seeking comment.
American Family sought a judgment that would have absolved it from making any payments on the insurance loss. Court documents set the home value at $1.1 million.
