Wisconsin Emergency Workers to Get $2M in Federal Aid
Wisconsin’s statewide building-collapse rescue team will get $2 million in federal aid for equipment and training.
More than 250 responders from fire departments across the state make up the team. They’ve been trained to search and rescue people in large-scale building collapses. Team members can assemble and respond anywhere in the state within eight hours.
Gov. Scott Walker says $800,000 will go toward equipment such as personal protective gear, tools and medical supplies. The remaining $1.2 million will go for training more firefighters in collapse rescue techniques.
