Indiana Traffic Stop Uncovers Suspected Car Theft Ring
Northern Indiana police say they may have found the culprits in a multi-state vehicle theft ring during a traffic stop.
WANE-TV reports Ryan Maroney and Victoria Cook are being held in Steuben County Jail after being pulled over about midnight Friday for traffic violations in Fremont. Investigators discovered the car the pair was driving had been stolen from Michigan. Fremont police believe the suspects drove another stolen car from Minnesota to Michigan to steal the one they were driving.
The Journal Gazette reports Maroney and Cook are being held on preliminary charges of receiving stolen property and unauthorized entry into a vehicle. Fremont police are working with authorities in Minnesota, Michigan, Iowa and Ohio regarding possibly related incidents.
Court hearings for both suspects are set for Monday.
