Fire Ravages West Michigan Lumber Company Complex
The fire chief in the Allegan County community of Hamilton, Mich., says a fire at a lumber company complex leveled four of six buildings and caused $3 million in damage.
Hamilton Fire Chief Dave Haverdink said Saturday the blaze damaged 85 percent of the Post Hardwoods Inc. complex.
The Grand Rapids Press and The Holland Sentinel report there were no injuries.
Hamilton firefighters responded to a report late Friday night of flames coming through the tops of the interconnected buildings.
Haverdink says the complex was insured for $2.5 million.
The chief says there’s no reason to call the fire suspicious.
