Many Homeless After Apartment Fire in St. Louis
Many residents of a St. Louis, Mo., apartment complex are homeless after a massive fire swept through the building.
The fire broke out Tuesday night at the four-story, 197-unit apartment complex on Lindell Boulevard in the city’s Central West End. No residents were injured but two firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
Firefighters were unable to get inside to rescue many pets, though officials said Wednesday that some got out on their own. By Wednesday morning, about 10 pets were found alive inside the remains of the building.
Two hotels were offering rooms to residents displaced by the fire.
