Settlement Reached in Iowa Mall Store Fall
A lawsuit filed over a woman’s fall at the cosmetics counter of a Mason City,Iowa, store has been settled.
The Mason City Globe Gazette reports that Patricia Uri, of Goldfield, had sued the parent company of Younkers and the owners of Southbridge Mall.
Attorney David Luginbill represented Bon-Ton Department Stores Inc., which owns Younkers. Luginbill says the case has been settled but the terms are confidential. Uri had sought more than $5,000 in damages.
The lawsuit says Uri was shopping in the store in June 2008 when a clerk invited her to sit in a chair at the cosmetic counter. The lawsuit says the chair slid out from under Uri, causing her to fall on her back and hit her head on the floor.
