Broken Water Main Floods Missouri Homes
A broken water main is blamed for flooding basements of several homes in a St. Louis, Mo., suburb.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the 20-inch main ruptured Monday morning in Maryland Heights. Several basements were flooded and some residents had to be evacuated.
Ann Dettmer of Missouri American Water says the company’s insurance agent was planning to meet with homeowners. It wasn’t immediately clear how many homes were affected.
The Post-Dispatch says an 86-year-old woman had to be carried to safety after the gusher slammed against her home.
