Minnesota Property Owners Express Frustration after Flood
Some owners of Minnesota property damaged by flooding during a dam removal project in the northwestern Lower Peninsula are expressing frustration about the mishap.
The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports several homeowners who turned out for a public meeting in Traverse City said they’re waiting for insurance reimbursements for property damage after a construction device failed, causing the Oct. 6 flooding.
Homeowner David Hoyt says he’s having trouble getting insurance adjusters on the phone because they’re now dealing with claims from Hurricane Sandy.
The Brown Bridge pond emptied into the Boardman River, damaging at least 53 properties.
The flood happened during a span of hours in what was supposed to be a slow draining of the Brown Bridge Dam in Grand Traverse County’s East Bay Township.
