Illinois Woman Arrested for DUI After Drive-Through Stop
The late-night wait at a drive-through window apparently proved too much for a southwestern Illinois woman now accused of drunkenly passing out while waiting for her order.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Department tells the Belleville News-Democrat that deputies found 53-year-old Janice Lyles of Godfrey asleep in the driver’s seat of a running vehicle in a Hardee’s drive-through lane Saturday night.
Deputies say Lyles displayed obvious signs of being under the influence of alcohol and failed sobriety tests at the scene.
She was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and operating an uninsured vehicle.
Lyles declined to discuss the matter when reached by telephone at her home Tuesday by The Associated Press.
