Two Fired Over Alleged Bus Drag Racing in Iowa
Two school bus drivers in central Iowa have been fired after school officials say they engaged in a drag race while students were on the buses.
Des Moines television station WHO-TV reports that the incident happened on Feb. 14, as buses were bringing young Iowa Falls students back from a Valentine’s Day field trip.
One 7-year-old Pineview Elementary student told the station that the bus he was on and another school bus were racing side-by-side on snow-covered streets. The boy said he and other students at first thought the race was fun, but soon were frightened by driver’s actions.
School board president T.J. Norman said the district fired one driver immediately. The other was fired earlier this week.
