Illinois City Considers Vicious Dog Ordinance
An attack by a pit bull that left two residents hospitalized has prompted the Bloomington City Council to consider an ordinance that would require the owners of dogs already deemed dangerous outside the Illinois city to comply with a number of regulations.
The (Bloomington) Pantagraph reports that ordinance that is scheduled to be considered Monday would include provisions to order the owners to spay or neuter the animals, require that they put a tag on the animals that identifies them as dangerous or vicious, and purchase liability insurance.
The ordinance would also beef up current rules by redefining “injury” to include serious injuries even if the victims do not seek medical treatment.
