Waterloo Calculating Damage From April Hailstorm
Waterloo, Iowa, officials are still calculating the damage to city buildings and vehicles from an April hailstorm.
The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports the storm dented police cars and inspection trucks and damaged at least four city building roofs.
In the Cedar River Exchange Park area, Leisure Services director Paul Huting says hail smashed cooking hood vents in the concessions area and dented the stadium roof.
Shingled roofs at the Gates Park swimming pool bath house and an office building near City Hall also were damaged.
Public Works Director Mark Rice says 65 vehicles sustained some hail damage.
Officials say insurance will cover most building damage, but there is a $50,000 deductible. The insurance claim for the vehicles could reach $150,000.
Black Hawk County officials also say many vehicles were damaged.
