Thieves Get AC Units From 3 Illinois Churches
Franklin County officials are investigating a series of air conditioning thefts from three rural southern Illinois churches.
Authorities tell The (Carbondale) Southern Illinoisan that some of the churches were hit twice in the past 10 days.
The most recent theft was reported this past weekend at Harmony Freewill Baptist Church in West Frankfort, which lost two outdoor air conditioning units.
Creek Nation Pentecostal Church in rural Mulkeytown and Jackson Grove Baptist Church in rural Akin were also targeted.
Investigators say the air conditioning units are stolen for scrap and they’re asking anyone with information to call the Franklin County Sheriff.
