Wisconsin State Patrol Hoping to Prevent Truck Crashes
The Wisconsin State Patrol is participating in a nationwide event designed to prevent large truck crashes.
“Brake Safety Week” runs through next Saturday and is sponsored by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance.
The State Patrol will intensify its brake inspection efforts during the week to identify faulty braking systems on large trucks and other commercial motor vehicles.
State Patrol inspectors also plan to educate drivers, mechanics and commercial motor vehicle companies about the importance of checking brakes routinely and properly maintaining them.
The patrol says large truck crashes have dropped nearly 26 percent since 2003.
