Missouri County Sues Over Botched Performance
Saint Charles County is suing the Ringling Brothers circus act over a short-circuited performance of Disney on Ice caused by a blown transformer.
The Missouri county wants Barnum & Bailey Combined Shows, Inc., along with two subcontractors and an unnamed truck driver, to repay more than $500,000 in losses and damages for a crash from nearly five years ago.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the errant driver drove an equipment truck into a utility pole, causing a transformer fire which disrupted a September 2008 performance of the Disneyland Adventure show. The crash happened during intermission of a Sunday matinee performance.
The county says the accident caused more than $100,000 in damages to its equipment at the government-owned Family Arena.
