Iowa Woman Charged With Arson, Fraud
A 25-year-old Davenport, Iowa, woman has been accused of setting her rental home on fire so she could collect on insurance.
The Quad-City Times says Ashley Bousselot was arrested on Wednesday and is charged with arson and insurance fraud, both felonies.
Davenport fire authorities say there were no injuries in Aug. 2 blaze.
Scott County Jail records say Bousselot has been released. A public phone listing for her couldn’t be found.
Her attorney, Michael McCarthy, says Bousselot adamantly denies setting the fire. McCarthy says his client told investigators she wasn’t the last person in the house and that the fire could have been an accident.
