Lightning Strike Causes Indianapolis House Fire
A lightning strike is being blamed for an Indianapolis house fire.
Indianapolis Fire Department Lt. Larry Tracy says the fire was reported by the homeowners about 1 a.m. Sunday on the city’s far northeast side.
The couple living in the home had been asleep before a loud clap of thunder woke them up. Tracy says the couple was checking for a fire when smoke detectors went off about two minutes later. The couple spotted smoke in an upstairs bedroom, and firefighters found the fire in the basement.
Tracy says one firefighter was treated at a hospital for dehydration.
Tracy says fire damages were not immediately known.
