Former North Dakota Insurance Commissioner Out of Hospital
Former North Dakota Insurance Commissioner Jim Poolman has been released from a hospital to continue his recovery at home from a traffic crash in Mandan early this month.
The 43-year-old Poolman suffered a broken pelvis, broken wrist and a concussion in the Jan. 6 crash in which another man died. The Highway Patrol says Poolman was driving a sport utility vehicle that was struck by a pickup truck that crossed a concrete lane divider on Mandan’s Main Street.
KXMB-TV reportsthat Poolman flew home on Tuesday from Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minn. He has 18 screws in his pelvis and will need months of physical therapy.
Poolman was state insurance commissioner from 2001 to 2007. He’s now vice chairman of the North Dakota Republican Party.
