Governor Surveys Storm Damage in Southern Wisconsin
Gov. Scott Walker got a firsthand look at damage caused by tornadoes that tore across southern Wisconsin.
On Tuesday, Walker toured storm damage in Platteville and Verona.
Wisconsin Public Radio reports Walker says it appears most of the owners of damaged homes in the two cities have enough insurance to make the necessary repairs.
But Walker says he would seek federal and state aid for damage not covered by homeowners’ insurance policies.
He says the state will make sure that “those without a safety net” get assistance.
Walker says he and first lady Tonette Walker were warned of the high winds that blew through Madison on Monday night by a phone alert.
