Feds Idle Charter Bus Company
Federal regulators have ordered a Twin Cities charter bus company off the road.
The order is part of a crackdown on bus crashes by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. On Eagles Wings Charters, of Lakeville, has been shut down after the feds cited the business for dozens of violations. The Safety Administration’s report says the company hasn’t been involved in any crashes, but its violations pose an “imminent hazard to the public.”
Owner Mike LaDue says an inspection of his vehicles two months ago found no serious problems.
The company was cited for allowing a passenger to drive one of its buses during a trip when the driver got sick. LaDue admits it was a terrible decision. The Star Tribune says LaDue hopes to correct the problems and get back in business in the next couple weeks.
