Fire Damage at Wisconsin Manufacturing Plant Estimated at $2M
Officials say damages from weekend fire at a Merrill, Wis., manufacturer are estimated at $2 million.
Fire Chief Dave Savone says the majority of the fire Sunday was found in the metal plating area at Northern Wire. The fire department’s hazardous materials unit was summoned to the scene because of chemicals used at the plant.
Authorities tell WSAW-TV the fire was contained to about 15 percent of the factory, which manufactures custom wires.
