Ohio Sheriff to Get Traffic Safety Grants
The Cuyahoga County sheriff’s department in northeast Ohio has received $71,000 in grants to pay deputies overtime for programs aimed at keeping county roadways safe.
A statement this week said one of the grants will pay for deputies to target and ticket motorists for unsafe driving. The second grant will pay for deputies to patrol high-risk areas in the hope of reducing impaired driving and serious accidents.
The money comes from Ohio’s High Visibility Enforcement Overtime Program. It is funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
