Indianapolis House Fire Blamed on Car Involved Wreck
Authorities say an Indianapolis house caught fire after a car apparently damaged while speeding with another car was parked in the garage.
Police say an officer spotted the two cars speeding on the city’s northeast side about 2:30 a.m. Monday. One crashed into an elementary school’s brick sign along the street as the cars turned onto a side street.
Fire Department Lt. Dean Johnson says police officers followed a fluid trail from the other car to a nearby house where they spotted the garage on fire. The flames spread to the house, causing an estimated $100,000 in damage to the home where the car’s driver lives with his mother.
Police were searching for the driver whose car crashed into the school sign.
