Iowa Student Football Injury Lawsuit Set for 2016
A lawsuit filed by the mother of an injured Clear Lake, Iowa, football player against the Clear Lake Community School District won’t go to trial until 2016.
The Mason City Globe Gazette reports that a court scheduling order filed Thursday has the trial set for March 15, 2016. The trial is expected to last four to five days.
The lawsuit by Roxanne Hasfjord on behalf of her son, Austin, seeks unspecified damages for past and future medical expenses, pain, suffering and partial disability.
Court documents say the boy suffered a serious head injury on Sept. 18, 2012, while participating in a school-sponsored football game. The documents say his injury was worsened during subsequent practices and games during the rest of the 2012 season.
