AAIS To Host Web Seminar on Personal Lines Mold Filings
The American Association of Insurance Services (AAIS) will hold a Web-based seminar Wednesday, May 28, concerning new endorsements to allow insurers to limit or exclude personal lines coverage for losses arising from mold and related causes.
Endorsements limiting coverage for losses arising from fungi (which includes mold), wet rot, dry, and bacteria are being developed and filed on behalf of companies that use the AAIS Dwelling Properties, Farm Properties, Farmowners, Homeowners, Mobile-Homeowners, and Personal and Premises Liability Programs.
Endorsements excluding coverage entirely for such losses are being filed on an advisory basis for companies that use the AAIS Farm Umbrella and Personal Umbrella Programs.
Participants in the seminar, which is offered free of charge, can see a PowerPoint presentation over their own computers and hear commentary over their own telephones. Participants will have an opportunity to pose questions.
The seminar will start at 10 a.m. Central time (11 a.m. Eastern) and feature two AAIS staff members:
*Susan Luecke, director of personal lines, will discuss the nature and content of the endorsements and manual supplements AAIS is filing on behalf of its affiliates; and
*Robert Prahl, director of education, will address claims handling methods that can help avoid allegations of bad faith and other problems that can arise from mold claims.
The seminar content will include detailed information regarding application of the endorsements, and thus be most relevant to companies that use AAIS personal lines programs. Property/casualty professionals from non-AAIS companies are allowed to participate, however.
