Farmers Group to Leave Med-Mal Business
The Farmers Insurance Group of Companies’ Truck Insurance Exchange® unit will reportedly discontinue its medical malpractice insurance line of business.
According to the company and effective immediately, Farmers will no longer write new medical malpractice coverage and will begin the process to non-renew existing business beginning Jan. 1, 2004. The decision is reportedly in keeping with Farmers’ strategic decision to focus on its core business lines.
“We will work attentively with our clients and their agents to address any concerns and challenges that arise during this transition,” said Jeff Reinig, vice president of Farmers’ Healthcare Professional Liability business. “As necessary, we will assist our customers in locating alternate carriers.”
Headquartered in Los Angeles, Farmers does business in 41 states.
