IDR Unveils Group Disability Product
Integrated DisAbility Resources, Inc. (IDR) has introduced its new Health & Productivity product that lets individuals access a variety of services without filing a disability claim.
The new product, which represents a change in how group disability services are provided, reportedly marks a step toward a long-held industry goal of an integrated healthcare and disability product. Currently marketed by one of the company’s Blue Cross client carriers, the product focuses on end user-initiated services that will reportedly help reduce medical and lost-time costs while improving employee productivity.
“Group disability shouldn’t create opposition between carriers, employers, and employees; it should create cooperation and collaboration,” said John Wiggin, IDR’s founder and president. “From the outset, IDR has been committed to improving how group disability works by making it more responsive to individual needs. Delivering our new H&P(SM) product to our clients and employers represents significant progress, both for IDR and the industry. Our product’s new approach is better for employees and their families, better for employers, and better for carriers because it finally delivers the kind of product that has been on the horizon for some time.”
Program participants can access all services, including full case management services, through a single toll-free number. Working with an H&P “coach,” participants access resources matched specifically to their needs. There are more than 100 service types, drawn from an extensive nationwide network, encompassing both work, personal, and family concerns. Participation is not limited to employees, however. An employee’s family members can take advantage of many of the H&P services, too. And, via a set of resources dedicated specifically to employers and their management staff, employers can access services as well.
“A traditional disability policy provides no services unless you are a claimant. Under our program, income replacement benefits will continue to be provided to approved claimants, but services are available to all employees regardless of benefit eligibility,” added Wiggin.
