GAB Robins’ Medinsights and Express Scripts to Offer Pharmacy Benefit Management Program
MedInsights, a provider of healthcare management services and member of the GAB Robins Group of Companies, has entered into an arrangement with Express Scripts Inc. to offer clients a Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) program that will reportedly help reduce their workers’ compensation prescription medication costs.
The workers’ comp PBM program is fully integrated with MedInsights and GAB Robins’ ACIS claim system and offers benefits to increase client savings, including formulary controls, national discounts, utilization parameters, mail order service and a national network of pharmacies.
The program allows injured employees to receive a prescription drug card, which can be used at a participating pharmacy to fill their prescriptions at no cost to the employee. Prescription payments are then charged electronically to employees’ claim files on a weekly basis.
Express Scripts provides integrated PBM services, including network
pharmacy claims processing, mail pharmacy services, benefit design
consultation, drug utilization review, formulary management, disease
management, medical and drug data analysis services, and medical
information management services. The company also provides distribution services for specialty pharmaceuticals through its Specialty Distribution subsidiary.
