National Union Fire Insurance Company of Pittsburgh, a member company of American International Group Inc. (AIG), announced the launch of EPL Leader, a new Employment Practices Liability (EPL) insurance offering that provides insurance coverage and loss prevention services to help companies combat employment practices violations.
EPL Leader combines comprehensive Employment Practices Liability coverage with skilled legal defense options, experienced claims management capabilities, and access to prudent loss prevention tools and strategies. EPL Leader also carries one of the broadest definitions of “employment practices violation” in the market, covering an assortment of charges, including wrongful termination, harassment, discrimination, failure to grant tenure and wrongful failure to employ or promote.
“Employment practices claims continue to increase in frequency and severity, forcing companies to adapt to the litigious environment,” said John Keogh, president and CEO,of National Union Fire Insurance Co. “EPL Leader affords companies peace of mind by providing experienced litigation management and loss prevention protection against a wide spectrum of employment practices claims.”
EPL Leader can be extended to respond expressly to discrimination and harassment claims brought against non-employee third parties. Additionally, the policy’s broad definition of “insured” affords coverage for past and present employees, directors, officers, leased employees, scheduled contractors and applicants for employment, as well as spouses, domestic partners and/or heirs of insured individuals. All subsidiaries that the named insured acquires during the policy period may be eligible for coverage.*
With each EPL Leader policy, companies will receive EPL Pak Premier – an exclusive web-enabled employment practices loss prevention training program that familiarizes employees with problematic workplace issues and major federal discrimination laws. Included in EPL Pak Premier is a free one-hour initial legal consultation with a top employment practices law firm and unlimited access to HR Comply, a hotline that provides answers to any question regarding employment practices and compliance.
