OSHA Partners with National Demolition Assoc.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the National Demolition Association (NDA) have formed an Alliance that focuses on providing access to training resources to help protect worker safety and health in the demolition industry. The Alliance will focus its efforts on addressing emergency preparedness and response, and fall protection.
“This Alliance will greatly expand OSHA’s reach in our efforts to provide access to safety and health training to those in the demolition industry who need it most,” said Jonathan Snare, acting assistant secretary of Labor for OSHA. “We are delighted to join with the NDA, who share our concern and are committed to reducing injuries and illnesses among the industry’s workers.”
“The National Demolition Association is pleased to build on its successful relationship with OSHA through the signing of this Alliance,” added Michael Taylor, NDA executive director. “NDA looks forward to working with the agency to address important health and safety issues and helping to safeguard the demolition industry’s most valuable resource — its skilled workforce.”
OSHA and NDA will work together to provide expertise to develop workplace safety and health curricula on hazards in the demolition industry and develop training and education programs for demolition industry employees, including non-English and limited English speaking employees, on emergency preparedness and response and fall protection.
The organizations will also provide expertise in developing information on the recognition and prevention of workplace hazards, and to provide expertise in developing ways of communicating such information to employers and employees in the industry. Both Alliance members will speak, exhibit, or appear at OSHA’s and NDA’s conferences and events such as NDA’s national conference, safety summits and training sessions.
A joint team of representatives from NDA and OSHA will meet regularly to develop an action plan, identify goals and objectives, and track and share information on activities and results of the Alliance.
NDA represents more than 900 U.S. and Canadian companies that provide standard demolition services or products to demolition service companies.
