Liberty Mutual Suspends Billing for Katrina Victims
Liberty Mutual Group will continue to insure homes and automobiles damaged in the hardest-hit areas by Hurricane Katrina, even if customers are unable over the next few months to make premium payments.
Liberty Mutual has temporarily suspended billing for customers who receive their premium statements at home for a minimum of 60 days, and has also suspended policy non-renewals for 120 days. The relief is available to customers in the hardest-hit areas of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.
“Until we can assess their damage, the very least we can do is take away the worry about paying for insurance,” said Paul Condrin, Liberty Mutual executive vice president, Personal Market. “And as soon as a safe return to the damaged areas is permitted, we will be ready to assist our customers with 300 catastrophe claims adjusters already in the area.”
Liberty Mutual auto and homeowner customers can report their claims 24 hours a day by calling 1-800-2-CLAIMS (1-800-225-2467). Liberty Mutual Group also will file reported flood claims to FEMA on behalf of customers who have purchased a policy through the National Flood Insurance Program. A FEMA representative will follow-up directly with these victims.
