Chrysler Group Recalls Dodge Ram Pickups
DaimlerChrysler AG’s Chrysler Group said it would recall 86,333 Dodge Ram 1500 pickups to resolve front-end vibration that could lead to the failure of the front wheel bearing.
The automaker said it would replace the front wheel hub and bearing units in the 2006 pickups. DaimlerChrysler spokesman Max Gates said the company had received a “couple hundred” warranty claims, which led it to review the bearings.
There have been no injuries linked to the issue, the company said.
Chrysler advised owners who experience front-end vibration or bearing noise to take their vehicles to a dealer for inspection. The work will be completed at no cost to owners.
The Auburn Hills, Mich.-based manufacturer recalled about 145,000 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 pickups last September to replace the passenger air bag pack and reprogram the air bag’s computer system.
