Surplus Lines Association Launches Employment Web Site

April 23, 2008

The National Association of Professional Surplus Lines Offices has launched a new online job center to help students and young professionals find employment opportunities in the surplus lines insurance industry.

NAPSLO’s Jobs Portal Web site at http://jobs.napslo.org allows jobseekers to review jobs posted by NAPSLO member firms; post their resume; and apply for jobs online. There is no charge for jobseekers to use the system, however users must register to apply for jobs, or to have their resume made available to employers. Employers must be members of NAPSLO to post jobs.

“The job site will connect jobseekers and our industry to fill job openings of all kind,” said Career Awareness Committee Chairman Steve Gross. The committee is overseeing the Jobs Portal and also efforts to promote the surplus lines industry to potential job seekers.

Previously NAPSLO offered a Web site area where association members could list their firm’s name, web site and a human resources contact and jobseekers could search the database to find firms in their area. NAPSLO will continue to host this site (http://employers.napslo.org) and job seekers can use this database to find additional employment information about members in the industry.

The NAPSLO Career Web site section (http://careers.napslo.org) has links to both the Jobs Portal and the Member Employment Information. NAPSLO is continuing to work on the Career site to provide employment information about the surplus lines industry and to be a site for college students and young professionals to go to look for jobs.

NAPSLO is a national trade association representing the surplus lines insurance industry, which writes more than $35 billion in premium, or nearly 15% of the commercial lines insurance industry. Surplus lines is a specialized segment of the insurance business that is also referred to as nonadmitted, specialty and/or excess lines. Risks are placed in this market when they cannot be placed in the admitted/licensed market.

While a number of the positions available in the industry are insurance related, NAPSLO members are looking for candidates from all degree areas to fill positions at their firms.
