USDA Warns of Fraudulent Letters
The U.S. Department of Agriculture says someone is faxing fraudulent letters to people and businesses in Wisconsin and other states.
The letters purport to come from a USDA procurement officer and seek personal information. They have the USDA logo and seal and are signed by a “Frank Rutenberg” using the title “senior procurement officer.”
The false letters have been faxed to Wisconsin, Alabama, Nebraska and Pennsylvania, and may have been sent to other states.
The USDA says if you receive the letter, don’t respond and don’t provide the requested information.
An investigation is under way.
